AGCO Power promoted the importance of reducing emissions and of supporting machine manufacturers in the energy transition at the annual Power Progress Summit, held in Chicago between 1-2nd of October. The event gathered major companies, experts and thought leaders from across the globe to discuss and to present solutions to drive the adoption of sustainable technologies in the off-road industry.
Kelvin Bennett, AGCO Senior Vice President of Engineering, delivered a keynote presentation during the event on the topic of supporting OEMs in the energy transition from power technology towards more sustainable solutions.
“Our future strategy is well described by the slogan “Wider Spectrum of Power”. AGCO Power has an impressive 80-year history of developing some of the world’s most innovative and efficient off-road diesel engines and we feel the next 80 years will require an expanded portfolio of energy solutions to meet the diverse off-road energy supply needs of the future,” he states.
Transitioning to Sustainable Power Solutions
AGCO Power recognizes that the off-road industry plays a significant role in global emissions. Perhaps surprisingly, Mr. Bennett believes that the internal combustion engine (ICE) is not out the door just yet.
Kelvin explains: “We think the diesel-powered ICE will be in off-road use for a quite some time based on the development of the energy market and availability in the recent years. There is still room to move forward with ICE and part of that is to develop our engine platforms to have even lower emissions and to be compatible with other fuel types. Furthermore, we look at introducing such as battery-electric and fuel cell technologies to suitable off-road applications.”
The eventual shift toward alternative fuels and carbon-neutral power solutions is essential in reducing industry CO2 emissions. AGCO Power’s decades of experience and the holistic view on sustainable power solutions ensures that OEM customers can confidently make the transition.
“Essentially, we need to continue evolving and improving our base engines while also selectively investing in a wider spectrum of power through new technologies, alternative fuels and electrification,” Kelvin concludes.

Latest and brightest technologies on display
AGCO Power CORE50 engines had the honor to be included as a “Engine of the Year” finalist together with Caterpillar and Cummins in the Power Progress Summit Awards. The innovative 5-liter CORE50 diesel engine delivers 6-cylinder performance in a 4-cylinder package with excellent fuel economy, standing strong against the competition. Already 100 % HVO compatible, the CORE50 can be electrified and developed further to use alternative fuels such as hydrogen. The CORE50 expands the CORE engine family and its older sibling, the CORE75, was chosen as the “Engine of the Year 2023”. Now that’s Passion for Power!
