AGCO Power CO2 calculator concept: transforming operational data into transparent value for farmers

In the rapidly evolving landscape of sustainable agriculture, data is becoming as valuable as the yield itself. For OEMs and fleet operators, the ability to track and verify environmental impact is no longer a luxury – it is a core requirement for future competitiveness. The AGCO Power CO2 calculator concept is a digital solution designed to bridge the gap between engine performance and sustainability reporting.

At Agritechnica 2025, experts from AGCO Power, Veravis and Valtra shared their insights on how this technology creates measurable and proven value across the entire food chain.

From sensor data to tangible benefits

One of the primary challenges in sustainability management has been the manual collection of fragmented data. The AGCO Power CO2 calculator automates this process by identifying exactly what is happening inside the tank.

“The AGCO Power CO2 calculator senses what fuel is in the tank – whether it is traditional diesel, biodiesel, or HVO,” explains Carolina Moilanen, Engineer at AGCO Power. “This is combined with usage amount and location data, then transferred to an online interface for calculating, storing and visualizing the impact in real-time.”

Improving TVO and sustainability reporting

For partners like Veravis, the benefits of the calculator extend beyond simple tracking. Michel Luislampe from Veravis identifies three key advantages:

  • Simplified Data Collection: Fuel usage is a critical data point that is now captured automatically.
  • Credibility: It significantly improves the accuracy of greenhouse gas (GHG) calculations for specific crops and entire farm sites.
  • Profitability: By providing precise data, farmers are enabled to make improved, data-driven decisions that increase the Total Value of Ownership (TVO).

Transparency from field to consumer

The ultimate goal of the CO2 calculator concept is to ensure the long-term viability of the farming industry. By creating a transparent data trail, the technology adds value to the final product found on store shelves.

“We want to ensure that the beginning of the food chain is well-managed, profitable, and capable of feeding the world,” says Matti Tiitinen, Sales Director at Valtra. “With this solution, the data generated on the farm eventually becomes visible to the consumer who chooses low-CO2 bread or sustainably produced tomatoes.”

The proof in future-proof

The CO2 calculator concept is a natural extension of AGCO Power’s “clean-sheet” design philosophy seen in the CORE engine platform. By supporting HVO-compatibility and providing the tools to prove its impact, AGCO Power is helping OEMs and end-users transition toward fossil-free operations without sacrificing performance.
