AGCO Power and the City of Nokia Building an Industrial Future Together

AGCO Power, located in the village of Linnavuori in Nokia, has been an integral part of the city and its vitality for decades. This close connection is reflected not only in shared history, but also in day-to-day cooperation and a joint commitment to future development. These themes were highlighted during the first visit of Nokia’s new City Manager, Pauliina Pikka, to AGCO Power’s Linnavuori manufacturing facility.

“AGCO Power has a long history in Nokia, and the company’s development has been impressive. It is great to see an internationally operating and technologically advanced company grow and evolve here,” Pikka says.

Modern Manufacturing and Committed People Leave a Strong Impression

During the visit, Pikka toured the production facilities and learned more about AGCO Power’s operating models. Particular attention was drawn to the highly automated processes and the close collaboration between people and robotics.

“The production environment was exceptionally clean and well organized, and there was a clear sense that operations are efficient and well considered. It was also interesting to see how quickly potential disruptions can be addressed – this level of operational reliability is critical in global manufacturing,” Pikka notes.

A positive first impression was further reinforced by the long tenures of many employees, reflecting strong commitment and continuity within the company.

Industry as a Broad Contributor to Regional Vitality

AGCO Power employs nearly 900 people in Nokia, and its impact extends widely across the regional business ecosystem. A major industrial employer supports local supply networks, services, and the long-term development of skills and expertise.

“Industry is a strong part of Nokia’s identity. Jobs matter not only in economic terms, but because they enable people to build their futures here,” Pikka says.

Long-Term, Practical Cooperation Between the City and the Company

AGCO Power also emphasizes the importance of the city in supporting the company’s development. According to AGCO Power Managing Directori Juha Tervala, cooperation with the City of Nokia has been pragmatic and solution-oriented.

“Working with the city has been smooth. Even in situations involving zoning changes or tight timelines, we’ve been able to find workable solutions that support business operations,” Tervala explains.

Pikka highlights that continued dialogue benefits both sides.

“The city’s goal is to support business growth and employment. When development is pursued together and openly, it creates a strong and sustainable foundation for everyone involved,” she says.

Visit Concludes with Recognition and Appreciation

At the conclusion of the visit, AGCO Power presented a commemorative plaque, manufactured in Linnavuori, to former City Manager Eero Väätäinen upon his retirement. The piece symbolizes local expertise and craftsmanship.

In return, the City of Nokia presented AGCO Power with a graphic artwork titled Kasvutarina (Growth Story) by local artist Sauli Iso-Lähteenmäki, representing the shared development journey between the city and the company.

To close the visit, Pikka shared a message with AGCO Power employees:

“Be proud of your work and your expertise. What you do matters – for Nokia, for Finland, and well beyond.”
