Reducing carbon footprint requires simultaneous research and product development work on several different fronts. One of the promising concepts is to convert green hydrogen and CO2 from industrial emissions into electrofuel compatible with modern engines.
Producing green hydrogen needs plenty of clean electricity. In Finland, most of the electricity produced is already almost carbon-free and the capacity of wind power is considerable, and it is possible to increase it, so it is natural to invest strongly in e-diesel development as well.
AGCO Power is one of the numerous partners in the e-Fuel project led by VTT. In the project that just ended, a concept was developed that produced electrofuel from green hydrogen and carbon dioxide. The fuel refined by Neste was tested in a Valtra tractor equipped with an AGCO Power engine.
“The results were excellent both in terms of emissions and tractor performance. The electrofuel developed in the project is one of the promising energy solutions for future work machines”,
AGCO Power’s Director of Product Development Kari Aaltonen sums it up.
